The 14-year-old boy suspected of sexually assaulting and killing 14-year-old on Friday last week, made a statement to the judiciary in which he confessed to both charges, the Public Prosecutor said on Twitter. He was remanded into custody for two weeks, the magistrate ruled on Thursday. According to the magistrate, there is currently sufficient suspicion to keep him in custody.

The Public Prosecutor wants to keep 30 men and boys arrested during the riots that broke out after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior on Sunday, in custody for another two weeks. Should the Prosecutor get his way, they will miss Feyenoord's last chance of winning the Dutch title in a match against Heracles this coming Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The suspects are between the ages of 14 and 45. They are all suspected of throwing fireworks, stones or whatever they had to hand at police officers in Rotterdam following the Feyenoord-Excelsior match.

A 35-year-old Eindhoven man arrested for , apologized via his lawyer Bas Ruijters. According to the lawyer, his client regrets lighting the smoke bomb. He adds that his client was not involved in any form of planned action, only lit a smoke bomb he found on the ground, Omroep Brabant reports.

Dutch judges are too quick to remand suspects into custody, according to a study by the College for Human Rights. They do not look at arguments to remand suspects to custody critically enough and the reasons for doing so are often insufficient, the College concluded, ANP reports.

The College for Human Rights is an independent watchdog for human rights in the Netherlands. For this study the College looked at over a hundred cases in six different courts. In four out of six cases, the reason for remanding a suspect into custody was insufficient.

Tennis coach Mark de J. was officially named a suspect in the murder of businessman Koen Everink, the public prosecutor revealed on Friday. A court in Utrecht will hear arguments on Saturday about the detention of De J., a tennis coach arrested earlier in the week at Schiphol Airport.
