Dutch households who like to spend the day out during the summer holidays now pay more to do so than five years ago. The costs involved in a day out on average increased more than consumer prices over the past five years, Statistics Netherlands reported on Wednesday. Entrance fees for museums, zoos, and amusement parks in particular saw a significant increase.
Schiphol airport is in the process of buying dozens of new security scanners in order to get passengers though security checks faster. The new full-body scanners are expected to be used from late next year, the Telegraaf reports.

Dutch holidaymakers abroad were massively hit by car troubles over the weekend. The ANWB support centers were flooded with calls about punctures, overheated engines, broken batteries and other car related problems, RTL Nieuws reports.
The ANWB support center in Lyon received 1,600 calls on one day. "A huge number. It is clear to see that the whole of the Netherlands is on holiday", an ANWB spokesperson said to the broadcaster.
