Hundreds of people participated in a silent march through Rotterdam on Tuesday. The march was a protest against sexual harassment and violence, and to show support for a young woman who was brutally raped in the city. They carried signs with texts like "No means no", "We are not objects", "Our rights are not up for grabs, neither are we", and "Private property, consent mandatory".
After weeks of drought, parts of Zuid- and Midden-Nederland were hit by a rain storm on Thursday evening. One person was killed and one injured in Rotterdam when a tree fell on their car. In Gelderland thousands of homes were without power for a few hours. And Roosendaal was hit by a whirlwind, NOS and AD report.
Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for Noord-Brabant, Zuid-Holland, Zeeland, Gelderland and Utrecht on Thursday night. The service predicted thunderstorms, with gusts up to 70 kilometers per hour and hailstones up to 2 centimeters.
Several platforms at Rotterdam Central Station were evacuated on Tuesday morning after the discovery of an abandoned bag. The owner of the bag was arrested. According to the police, he is "disturbed" and being questioned.
Early reports say that wires were seen protruding from the bag. The bag was discovered shortly after 8:00 a.m., just as morning rush hour was getting under way. Platforms 2, 3 and 4 were evacuated as a precaution, the police said on Twitter. Reporters at the scene say that tracks 2 to 7 were cleared.

Train conductors are striking at all train stations in Rotterdam on Wednesday afternoon, causing delays and cancellations into the evening rush hour. The conductors called the surprise labour action to draw attention to several high-profile attacks on NS conductors over the past week, the Dutch railway said.
There will be fewer trains traveling between Rotterdam Central and The Hague Central Station this morning because of a points failure, NS reports. There will also be fewer IC-Brussels trains between Rotterdam and Amsterdam because of this failure.
PostNL has started placing package vending machines at nine major train stations. People can have their package sent to such a machine and retrieve it when it suits them.
