Belgian trade union strike to affect Dutch rail schedule on Sunday evening and Monday
The train strike that is set to begin in Belgium on Sunday evening will also impact the Dutch railway. This was reported by the NS on their website. There will be fewer EuroCity and Eurocity Direct trains from and to Belgium and the Eurostar will have an altered schedule.
NS reported that various Eurocity Direct trains between Lelystad Centrum and Brussel-Zuid/Midi will be canceled. There will also be fewer evening trains between Amsterdam Zuid and the station in Brussels.
In addition, the EuroCity between Rotterdam Centraal and Brussel-Zuid/Midi will run less often. Various trains are also expected to be canceled on the Eurostar route between the Netherlands and France, and various trains between Germany and France will be canceled.
Belgian trade unions have called on railway personnel to go on strike for 18 days up to the end of July. The first day of strikes will begin on Sunday evening at 10 p.m. and will last for 24 hours.
The next day of strikes is scheduled for March 31. Railway unions ACOD Spoor and ACV-Transcom are protesting against federal government plans, including cuts to the railway company NMBS.
