A anti-asylum seeker headline in Dutch newspaper the Telegraaf on Saturday led to a campaign calling on businesses to pull their advertisements from the "xenophobic" newspaper.

The headline in Dutch read: "Kanslose aslieplaag ongehinderd verder". Translated to English, it reads: "Prospectless asylum plague continues without hindrance".

Dutch newspaper AD took a firm stance against the Brits leaving the European Union with a full front page dedicated to the Brexit. The entire front page is covered in the Union Jack with the words: "Dot leave me this way".

The Telegraaf Media Group is pulling the plug on news site Spits. The website survived the free Spits newspaper for slightly more than a year - the free newspaper was disappeared in October last year.

Residents in Rome are planning a sit-in protest at the Dutch embassy there on Tuesday. The protest is in response to the damage caused to the Piazza di Spagna and other historic sites after rioting took place there.

Copies of satirical French newspaper Charlie Hebdo did not arrive in the Netherlands for distribution on Thursday, as previously expected. The cause of the delay is not known.

The Persmuseum in Amsterdam receives an addition to its ongoing Comic Journalism exhibit. The museum is paying homage to the artists of Charlie Hebdo with an exhibition of original editions of the newspaper from five decades of its existence. The office of the satirical French newspaper was attacked by masked gunmen leaving 12 people dead and several injured on January 7th.

The widow of Stéphane Charbonnier, the editor and caricaturist of satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo, compares her husband's death to the murder of the Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh. Charbonnier was killed in the Charlie Hebdo shootings on January 7th.

Demonstrations are being organized in several Dutch cities on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. in support of the victims and survivors of the attack on in Paris on Wednesday. Twelve people were killed in a raid at the office of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical weekly newspaper, and many others were injured.

In Utrecht, the Public Prosecution Authority announced yesterday that it will indict the treasurer of homeless newspaper Straatnieuws (Street News) for fraud. Former PvdA council member Bert van der Roest reportedly stole €45,000 from the paper during his time as treasurer, the NRC reports.

Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reported a cyber attack on Monday morning. Its website was offline for two hours on Sunday night and for half an hour on Monday morning at 9.00am. Publisher Herman Mantel said that the investigation of the newspaper showed that a DDos-attack was the cause.
