Three police officers were injured on Monday afternoon while they were arresting a 30-year-old man in Waalwijk. Two officers in training noticed the man on Stationsstraat because he was hitting cars with a stick. When they asked a third officer for help in arresting him, the man turned on them.
The Anne Frank tree in the Wandelpark in Waalwijk was vandalized for the third time this month. Over the weekend unknown unknown perpetrators twice snapped the trunk of the tree. Local residents believe this is a targeted action, Omroep Brabant reports.

A motorist was lucky to escape with only a fright when his car suddenly caught fire while he was driving through Waalwijk during the early hours of Monday morning, Omroep Brabant reports.
The motorist was driving on Biesbosweg around 2:15 a.m. when he noticed smoke coming out of the car. He pulled over and called the fire department. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the car was already enveloped in flames.
Firefighters extinguished the fire using foam. Not much is left of the car, according to the broadcaster.
