The Public Prosecutor is paying extra attention to discrimination on social media with the elections coming up on March 15th, chief prosecutor Theo Hofstee said in an interview with AT5. He wants quick action if someone is insulted or discriminated against.

Wilders is facing various forms of hate speech charges over statements he made about Moroccans while campaigning in The Hague in 2014. The PVV leader already announced that he will not be attending the trial, calling it a "political process" that should be held in parliament not in court.

On Wednesday Ajax supporter Ferdi T. was sentenced to 60 hours of community service for lynching a doll made to look like Feyenoord goalkeeper Kenenth Vermeer during a match between the two teams early this year. The court also imposed a stadium ban of two years. The 27-year-old man was found guilty of insulting and threatening Vermeer, NU.nl reports.

The police made the first arrest in the investigation into threats reported in the Turkish-Dutch community following an attempted coup in Turkey in July, the police announced in a statement.
