Motorists can expect a busy rush hour on Monday morning due to icy roads and showers. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for all provinces except Friesland. 

The northeastern parts of the country should be careful of icy roads the entire day. In the rest of the country, the iciness should melt away during the course of the morning.

Snow expected to start falling in the Netherlands later this morning, is already causing problems with air traffic. Schiphol lists a number of flight cancelations, and KLM announced on Thursday that the airline is canceling 26 flights scheduled for Friday. Motorists, especially in the west of the country, are warned to be careful of icy roads during morning rush hour.

The Netherlands can expect snow on Friday, according to meteorological institute KNMI. A code yellow warning for snow and icy roads will be in effect all day on Friday.

The snow will start in the west on Friday morning, and spread out to the rest of the country during the course of the day. KNMI expects between 1 and 3 centimeters of snow. The western parts of the country may also see some rain in the afternoon. 

Motorists are warned to be careful of icy roads and to adjust their driving behavior - drive carefully, slowly and keep a safe following distance.

Commuters in the eastern parts of the Netherlands will be particularly affected by icy roads, caused by wet sections on the roads freezing overnight and a hail storm, according to the KNMI. The iciness should melt away later in the morning.

Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code orange weather warning for the whole country, starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing through to 2:00 p.m. A code yellow warning is in effect for the rest of the day.

The prospect of slippery roads prompted the Dutch national weather service, KNMI, to issue another Code Yellow weather warning. The caution is in effect across the Netherlands from 4 p.m. on Tuesday through noon on Wednesday.

Snow is also possible in the center of the country, and continuing to the east and south. The eastern provinces have the highest likelihood for icy roadways overnight, but with winter showers expected everywhere in the Netherlands drivers were told to be particularly careful.

Meteorological institute KNMI increased its storm warning for Wednesday from a code yellow to a code orange for the provinces of Noord-Holland, Flevoland, Friesland, and the Wadden islands. Very strong winds up to 130 kilometers are expected.

A code yellow warning is still in effect for the rest of the country.

With the first storm of the year hitting the Netherlands today, the first storm damage reports of the year are also coming in. According to Weerplaza, a gust of 141 kilometers per hour was measured in Vlissingen early on Wednesday morning. The storm is expected to peak between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Some 59 flights scheduled to depart on Wednesday from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport were cancelled with wind gusts expected to top 110 kilometers per hour that day. All departures were scheduled to take off between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.

A further 59 arrivals, set to land on Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. were also scrapped.

Motorists across most of the Netherlands should be careful of icy and slippery roads on Friday morning. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for all provinces except Drenthe, Groningen and Overijssel.

The ice on the roads should melt away during the course of the morning. 

Friday will be cloudy in many places, especially inland. The coastal areas and the south of the country may see some rain. Afternoon temperatures will range between 3 and 5 degrees, with a moderate wind during the morning and weak in the afternoon.

After heavy snowfall on Monday caused two days of chaos at Dutch airports, most flights are now departing and landing on schedule.

Winter weather conditions, including hail, light snow, cold rain, and a late sunrise led to a challenging morning rush hour in the Netherlands on Friday. Over 120 kilometers of traffic jams had already formed on Dutch highways by 8:45 a.m., according to driving association ANWB.

A code yellow weather warning was issued for the entire country due to potentially slippery conditions. The morning warning was set to expire at noon, but a second caution was to begin at 5 p.m. and last through to 11 p.m.

Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code orange weather warning for the Wadden area, and a code yellow for the rest of the country, warning of strong gusts reaching speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. Only Noord-Brabant doesn't have to worry about strong winds today.
