Residents of all apartments in the Brabantpark area of Breda were informed on Tuesday that their balconies are not safe. Housing association WonenBreburg sent the residents of 160 apartments a letter advising them not to step onto the balconies because they may collapse. A total of 320 balconies' safety can not be guaranteed, Omroep Brabant reports.

The police arrested six people in connection with the kidnapping of a 53-year-old man in the small Dutch town of Nunspeet in December. The arrests were made on Wednesday, the police said in a statement. So far no information was released about the motive for the kidnapping.

A 22-year-old man from Breda was arrested on Sunday in connection with the theft of four chocolate-colored Old English Bulldog puppies from care farm De Mekkerbek in Baarle-Nassau last week, ANP reports.
The Breda police went to the man's home based on a tip and found one of the very expensive puppies there.

On December 19th, Amri drove a truck ino a Christmas market in Berlin. He was shot and killed by the Italian police in Milan four days later.
During Christmas and New Year's insurance companies in the Netherlands receive on average double the number of claims as on ordinary days, according to figures from the Dutch Association of Insurers. However, for the third year in a row there was a decrease in the number of burglary claims last year, AD reports.

The police made a breakthrough in the case surrounding the kidnapping of Gino Heeren and Rien de Koning from a car dealership in Breda on December 29th last year.
