Three teenage boys were killed when the car they were in hit a streetlight on Sportlaan in the Noord-Holland town of Anna Paulowna during the early hours of Saturday morning. The boys, two age 16 and one age 15, were all from the town. A 17-year-old girl from Anna Paulowna and a 20-year-old man from Oudesluis were injured. The man from Oudesluis was later arrested as a suspect, the police said.
Three young men from Hoogezand-Sappemeer in Groningen were killed in a car accident in Groningen on Christmas eve. Their football clubs HS'88 and vv Froombosch opened their doors to family and friends for a vigil on Sunday. They also opened a condolence register, NOS reports.
One street racer's high speed racing career ended rather abruptly in Arnhem on Friday after he crashed his red Ferrari 458 into a tree.
On Sunday morning the police intervened in a street race on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. The 84 attendees all got a speeding ticket.
There was also a street race on the Prinses Maximaweg, which caused a lot of noise and disturbed the peace. Many vehicles were parked on the roadway so that regular motorists could not pass.
Employees of the Zeehaven police cordoned off the area and gave the 84 attendees speeding tickets. After that the peace was restored.
