Motorists speed over Amsterdam bikepath in street race

The police caught a street racer speeding on an Amsterdam bike path at 100 kilometers per hour this weekend. The driver turned out to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers confiscated his driver’s license, the Amsterdam police said on X.

The police deployed extra officers to the Westelijk Havengebied on Saturday due to frequent street races in the area. They did not go home empty-handed.

In addition to the drunk driver speeding on the bike path at high speed, police also stopped a motorist who veered out of the bend and caused a collision. Officers issued a total of 25 fines.

According to AT5, street races are a common problem in the Westelijke Havengebied, and the police often have to intervene
