The public prosecutor demanded a 20-month sentence and treatment at a psychiatric prison for a 16-year old boy from Rijswijk accused of stabbing a 15-year old classmate in the neck at their school in Voorburg. The victim died shortly after the October 14 incident. The prosecutor said the defendant is guilty of a premeditated killing.

Seven students who were found in possession of stolen exams from the Rotterdam school IBN Ghaldounwere, were sentenced to community service. The court previously found seven guilty of theft and pilferage, while five other students were acquitted.

The judge's verdict that Zwarte Piet is a 'negative stereotype' is going to be appealed by the 'Pieten guild' in Amsterdam. This verdict was given at the start of July this year. The appeal will be submitted on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson from the guild, Het Parool reports.

Two of the attackers who assaulted Wilfred de Bruijn and his boyfriend in Paris have both been sentenced to 30 months in jail, of which respectively 12 and 15 are conditional. De Bruijn, who is a gay man, and lives in Paris, was suddenly and unwarrantedly attacked when he was walking arm in arm with his boyfriend down the street at night.
