Politician murder suspect stabbed sister 40 times, indictment says

The 39-year old man, Bart van U., will appear in court on Friday to face chargers of murdering his sister. He is also suspected of murdering former D66 party elder and former Health Minister Els Borst. Van U.'s sister was killed with premeditation and was stabbed 40 times in her neck, chest, face, hands and arms, the indictment says, according to newspaper AD. He was first arrested in January after his sister was found dead in the two-flat building they shared. He was then linked by DNA to trace evidence at Borst's home, where she was found dead following a D66 event in Amsterdam. Currently the suspect is held in Pieter Baan Centre for psychiatric research. Prior to the murders, he was already dubbed a "serious threat to society" by a court hearing a case on a prior charge. Van U. did not appear for a sentencing hearing.
