The Noordbrabants Museum and the Museo del Prado together won the prestigious Global Award for Fine Art for the exhibition which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Dutch artist's death last year, Omroep Brabant reports.

This year Den Bosch dedicated the entire year to locally born artist Hieronymus Bosch. During the year 1.3 million people visited the city. A small 422 thousand people from 81 different countries visited the Hieronymus Bosch - visions of a genius exhibition in the Noordbrabants Museum, Omroep Brabant reports.

The year of Hieronymus Bosch came to an official end on Sunday, with a party on the Wilhelminaplein. There was music and fireworks and the unveiling of the so-called Bosch Beast, a massive metal owl.

Following a search using sniffer dogs, police confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities caused by a sudden building collapse on the main Markt square in Den Bosch. Witnesses said they heard a bang, and then the building crumbled like a house of cards on Saturday night at about 11 p.m.

The Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain decided not to lend two paintings to the Noordbrabants Museum in s-Hertogenbosch for its Hieronymus Bosch exhibition. The Prado Museum decided to go back on its agreement to lend the two paintings because it is furious that Dutch experts judged them to be replica's, instead of works done by Bosch himself

King Willem-Alexander opened a fifteen-year-in-the-making Hieronymus Bosch exhibition in the Noordbrabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch on Friday afternoon. Researchers have determined that a painting kept in storage for years at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri was actually painted by Hieronymus Bosch. Born in Den Bosch, Noord-Brabant, the painter likely produced the work in the early 16th century, newswire ANP reported.
