Protestors were physically and verbally assaulted during the Sinterklaas arrival events in Eindhoven, Groningen, and Leeuwarden, while threats of violence forced the cancellation of a protest in Nijmegen.
The police believe that five shooting incidents in Eindhoven and Best this year may all be linked. Investigators think they may be the result of a conflict in the drug world that got out of hand, was revealed on detection program Bureau Brabant on Monday, Omroep Brabant reports.
A 21-year-old man was arrested for involvement in the murder of 51-year-old Henk Baum from Nistelrode. Baum, who had a criminal record, was gunned down in his car in the Noord-Brabant town of Schaijk on March 22nd.
The suspect was already in custody on suspicion of involvement in several cases of arson and an explosion in the Oss area in early October. He was arrested in his cell in the Middelburg Penitentiary Institution on Friday, the police announced on Monday.

Ryanair cabin crew workers at Eindhoven Airport are striking for 24 hours on Tuesday. According to union FNV, they are protesting against the closure of Ryanair's base at the airport and the way they are being treated by their employer, NU.nl reports.
The striking employees will hand a petition to the provincial government of Noord-Brabant. According to FNV, the province is party to the conflict as a shareholder in the airport.

A truck containing drug waste caught fire near an apartment building on Offenbachlaan in Eindhoven on Sunday morning. Twelve apartments were evacuated. The residents could only go back home around 10 hours later. On Saturday night, another truck was found leaking ecstasy waste on the same street, Brabants Dagblad report.
The police are investigating two large explosions in homes in Eindhoven and Best early on Saturday morning. In both cases explosives were thrown into the homes. No one was injured, but a large amount of damage was caused, ANP reports.
Firefighters found a body while fighting a fire in a building container on Achtseweg Zuid in Eindhoven during the early hours of Friday morning. The identity of the victim and cause of death are still under investigation, RTL Nieuws reports.
"During the extinguishing they found a body", a spokesperson for the police confirmed to the broadcaster. "We do not yet know what happened and are keeping all options open. We are investigating what happened and whether it was a crime."

A 34-year-old man from Eindhoven was killed in a shooting in the city on Saturday evening, the police confirmed. He was gunned down while sitting in his car on Sionstraat at around 8:00 p.m. He died at the scene.
Witnesses told the police that two men were standing on the corner of Sionstraat and Gibeonstraat just after the shooting. The corner is about 20 meters away from where the incident happened. The police are looking for these two men, and call on them or anyone who may know who they are to come forward. "They may have important information for us."
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck on 18 Septemberplein in the center of Eindhoven on Thursday afternoon. He was taken to hospital, seriously hurt. Part of the square was temporarily closed for police investigation, NU.nl reports.
The police are looking for the perpetrator. As the victim was not yet able to talk to the police, the circumstances that led up to the stabbing remain unclear.
Most of the Eindhoven residents who rent out their homes through Airbnb do not pay tourist tax, according to ANG, a specialized company hired to inspect Airbnb accommodation in the Noord-Brabant city. This means that the city treasury is missing out on a large sum of income, NOS reports.
Over the past month ANG contacted more than a hundred Airbnb landlords and inspected 38 Airbnb locations. "Only 30 to 40 addresses paid the sum of 3.50 euros per person per night", the company said.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested at an Albert Heijn store in Eindhoven on Sunday morning. She is suspected of stabbing a colleague in the leg at the store, De Stentor reports.
The woman was arrested around 9:10 a.m. at the AH XL. She stabbed her 44-year-old colleague earlier in the morning. The victim was taken to hospital.
Why the woman attacked her colleague is not yet clear. The police are investigating.
A hand grenade exploded at sisha lounge Down Town on Leenderweg in Eindhoven during the early hours of Saturday morning. The sisha lounge was closed at the time and no one was hurt, though the building sustained some damage, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.
Eindhoven mayor John Jorritsma will meet with the police and Public Prosecutor on Monday to discuss whether the sisha lounge should be closed after the explosion.
A plane landed safely at Eindhoven Airport on Wednesday after experiencing technical difficulties, the fire brigade said. The Wizz Air flight from Bucharest to Eindhoven carried 228 people, a spokesperson for the airport said to Omroep Brabant.
According to the spokesperson, there was a problem with the flaps on a wing of the plane. As a result, the plane landed at higher speed than normal. The pilot managed to touch down safely. No one was injured.

Two teenage boys from Amsterdam were arrested shortly after a shooting in Eindhoven during the early hours of Monday morning. The shooting happened on Shakespearelaan around 3:00 a.m., Het Parool reports.

An 86-year-old woman was rescued from her home in Eindhoven on Saturday night after being stuck in a floor duct for nine hours. She slipped while cleaning and got her shoulder stuck in the duct, a kind of radiator in the floor, her daughter told Omroep Brabant.
Neighbors went to check on the elderly woman after not seeing or hearing from her for a few hours. They found the woman stuck. The fire brigade came to rescue her.

On Wednesday the police raided a home on Heistraat in Eindhoven after receiving a report that the resident was trying to sell explosives on Marktplaats. In the home officers found grenades, an aircraft bomb and a rocket. The resident was arrested, Omroep Brabant reports.
The police responded to the home with a Defense explosive ordnance disposal team.
In total 40 pieces of ammunition were found in the home. Six grenades were potentially dangerous, and were detonated as a precaution. The rest were empty explosives or training material.
