German, Dutch police look for two Dutch drivers who fled after crash left man injured
German and Dutch authorities are searching for two Dutch drivers after a serious crash on the A31 early Sunday left a 50-year-old man seriously injured. The Mazda he was driving overturned when it was rear-ended by a Volkswagen Golf, whose occupants fled the scene before emergency services arrived, Dagblad van het Noorden reports.
The Volkswagen Golf with Dutch license plates collided with the northbound Mazda 5 around 6:00 a.m. The impact caused the Mazda to veer off the road, overturn, and land upside down in a nearby field. The driver of the Mazda was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
Another Dutch motorist in a Volkswagen Polo picked up the Golf driver and a suspected passenger before emergency responders arrived.
German police documented the license plates of both Dutch vehicles and contacted the authorities in Emmen, the Netherlands. Dutch police then visited the owners at their homes.
