Man stabbed near Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam; Suspect arrested

A man was stabbed early Sunday near the Johan Cruijff Arena. Officers arrested a suspect at the scene. The victim was hospitalized and later released, Amsterdam police said.

The incident occurred at the Passage, in the vicinity of the arena. Police received the emergency call shortly after midnight, broadcaster AT5 reported.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital. A police spokesperson said the man was able to return home shortly after treatment.

The motive for the stabbing remains unknown.
