Mild weather set to favor Vierdaagse walking event in Nijmegen

Mild temperatures and mostly "manageable" conditions are forecast for the Vierdaagse walking event in Nijmegen. Clouds will mix with periods of sunshine. Even on brighter days, the cloud cover may make it harder for the body to shed heat, Weeronline noted. The marches are set to take place from Tuesday, July 21, through Friday, July 24.

Daytime highs will reach 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, several degrees below the usual late-July average of more than 24 degrees in the Nijmegen region. But temperatures could climb to 24 degrees by Friday afternoon.

Tuesday looks largely dry with regular sunny intermissions. Light rain or brief showers may arrive Wednesday and Thursday. No heavy downpours, thunderstorms, hail, or strong gusts are expected.

Nights will cool to 12 or 13 degrees, normal for this time of year. Early morning walkers may need a vest or jacket, but they will warm up quickly once moving.
