Police action against motorcycle gang Caloh Wagoh, 21 November 2018

The police arrested two leaders of Caloh Wagoh on Wednesday morning and are currently raiding over 40 locations linked to the outlaw motorcycle gang. The two leaders, men aged 48 and 70, were arrested in Mijdrecht and Leiden. They're in custody for questioning, the police said in a statement.

The raids are being done by police units Den Haag, Midden Nederland, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Oost Nederland. SWAT teams were deployed in various locations. This major police action, involving over 800 police officers, forms part of a larger investigation into undermining crime.

Around a fifth of the Syrian asylum seekers who are proposed for asylum in the Netherlands through the so-called , are rejected because of extremist sympathies or because their ideals are not in line with Dutch values, Paul van Musscher, national portfolio holder for foreign affairs and migration crime at the police, said to the Volkskrant.

A detective in the Den Haag police unit is suspected of leaking police information to criminals for a period spanning around 18 months, according to the Public Prosecutor. The 35-year-old man searched the police systems to find out whether there were investigations into certain suspects, NOS reports.

Police officer Mario from Boskoop, who was over New Year's, passed away on Monday night, the Hague police announced on Facebook. The 36-year-old cop sustained severe brain injuries in the accident and was in a coma since it happened.

The Hague mayor Jozias van Aartsen decided not to allow a protest march against police brutality to go through the Schilderswijk neighborhood on Monday. Protesters will have to go another route. Protest organizers are furious. "We now have to demonstrate along a route that is invisible. You mat express your opinion, but only if as few people as possible hear it", one of the organizers said to Den Haag FM.

The Hague Mayor Jozias van Aartsen admitted that there is racism in his city's police force. He said this on Wednesday during a debate in the City Council regarding the death of Aruban man Mitch Henriquez and the subsequent riots in Schilderswijk. Up until now, the Mayor has always denied the existence of racism in the police.

Aruban arrestee Mitch Henriquez likely died from a lack of oxygen. This was likely caused by the actions of police officers during his arrest on Saturday. Five police officers are suspected of involvement in Henriquez' death.
