Thursday will be another extremely hot day in the Netherlands. Maximums up to 40 degrees are expected, with some places maybe even seeing 41 degrees, according to Weerplaza. The chance is therefore good that the weather records that fell on Wednesday, will fall again today.

The night between Wednesday and Thursday was also very hot. Minimum temperatures ranged between 20 and 24 degrees. On Thursday the thermometers will climb quickly. Maximums will range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. There is also very little wind to cool things down.

A new record for the warmest-ever June 25 was set on Tuesday when the thermometer peaked at 36 degrees. The new record was set in Volkel, Noord-Brabant, breaking the previous record of 34 degrees set in the same place in 1976.

Today's high temperature was recorded by Dutch meteorological agency KNMI at 4:50 p.m. The record was already beaten hours earlier when 34.2 degrees was recorded in Hupsel, a small Gelderland village just eight kilometers west of the German border.

Temperatures in De Bilt climbed to 18.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, breaking the record for the warmest February day ever measured in the Netherlands, according to Weerplaza. The previous record dated from Monday, when a maximum of 18.3 degrees was measured in De Bilt.

Wednesday will also be an unseasonably warm day, with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees along the coast to up to 20 degrees inland. There is therefore a good chance that this record will be broken again.

Monday February 25th is going down in the record books as both the warmest February day ever measured in the Netherlands, as well as the highest measured temperature in the meteorological winter. Monday therefore broke a monthly record as well as a seasonal record, Weerplaza reports.

On Monday the maximum temperature measured 18.3 degrees Celsius in De Bilt. The previous record dates from February 28th, 1959, when temperatures climbed to 17.3 degrees Celsius at the national weather station in De Bilt.
