Another extremely hot day expected in NL; temps up to 40ºC
Thursday will be another extremely hot day in the Netherlands. Maximums up to 40 degrees are expected, with some places maybe even seeing 41 degrees, according to Weerplaza. The chance is therefore good that the weather records that fell on Wednesday, will fall again today.
The night between Wednesday and Thursday was also very hot. Minimum temperatures ranged between 20 and 24 degrees. On Thursday the thermometers will climb quickly. Maximums will range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. There is also very little wind to cool things down.
The first weather record on Wednesday was broken just after noon, when 36.1 degrees was measured in Gilze Rijen. That was the highest temperature ever measured in the Netherlands in July. A few hours later, thermometers in Eindhoven climbed to 39.3 degrees, breaking a 74-year-old record for highest temperature ever measured in the Netherlands.
Friday will also be extremely hot, with maximums between 34 and 38 degrees, though there is a chance of more clouds. The weekend will be somewhat cooler.
