Shootout in Amsterdam leaves three seriously wounded
Three men were left seriously wounded after an exchange of gunfire in Amsterdam on Friday night. All three were transported to an area hospital while in police custody. They were identified only by their ages, 34, 39, and 43 years old.
Witnesses reported that gunshots were being fired back and forth at about 8:40 p.m. The incident happened on Hakfort just east of the Bullewijk metro station, and north of the A9 highway.
“When the police arrive at the scene, they find two seriously injured men at Hakfort,” police said. Another injured man was found on Hofgeest about 20 minutes later.
First responders, including officers, paramedics and a medical trauma team quickly came to their aid. “All injured men have been taken to hospital and arrested,” police stated.
Forensic investigators found a firearm and several shell casings at the scene. Detectives were “urgently looking for witnesses.”
Anyone with camera footage from the area taken “before, during or after the incident” should contact authorities directly. Those with knowledge of the shooting or the motives were asked to provide tips to investigators.
