The man was arraigned on Friday and remanded into custody for 14 days, after which the examining magistrate will reassess the need to extend his pre-trial custody, the Public Prosecution Service confirmed.
Rene V., a 24-year-old man suspected of stabbing four jogging women from his car, was caught because a previous victim in Schagen wrote down the license plate number of his car, was revealed during the trial against V. on Thursday, AD reports.
The incident in Schagen happened in June last year. The female victim was jogging when a honking car came driving at her, the driver making obscene gestures towards her. He slapped her through the open window as he drove pass. She was not injured, but wrote down the license plate number and called the police.
Jawed S., a 20-year-old man who stabbed two American tourists at Amsterdam Central Station last year, was sentenced to 26 years in prison by the court in Amsterdam on Monday. He was convicted to two counts of attempted murder with terrorist intent, and three counts of threatening a police officer, NOS reports.
Wanted fugitive Ridouan Taghi ordered outlaw motorcycle gang Caloh Wagoh to commit murders on his behalf, the Public Prosecutor said on Friday in a proforma hearing against members of the biker gang.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested during the early hours of Friday morning after he crashed a stolen car into a police vehicle on Zeeburgerdijk in Amsterdam. He is facing charges of attempted murder or manslaughter, the Amsterdam police said on Twitter.
Police officers started chasing the stolen car from Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam Zuid at around 3:30 a.m. On Zeeburgerdijk, the teenager crashed the stolen car into a police vehicle.
The boy "vehemently" resisted arrest, the police said.
A man assaulted a woman and her 9-year-old son with a hammer on a Steenbergen street. He also threatened the woman with a knife and kicked her 3-year-old son. A 44-year-old man from Kruiningen was arrested, RTL Nieuws report.
The incident happened at around 8:20 p.m. on Friday. The woman and the older boy were both hit on the head with a hammer. Bystanders tried to overpower the man, but he managed to escape. He was later arrested in his Kruiningen home.
