Two more arrests made in fatal kidnapping of singer S10's twin brother

Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of Emiel den Hollander, the 24-year-old twin brother of Eurovision singer S10, who died after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Amsterdam Nieuw-West.

Police in Amsterdam confirmed that on Monday, June 30, officers took a 30-year-old man from Hoorn and a minor into custody on suspicion of involvement in murder or manslaughter, as well as unlawful deprivation of liberty resulting in death, AD reports.

Authorities said both suspects are being held in restrictions, meaning they are only permitted contact with their lawyers. They are scheduled to appear before an examining magistrate on Thursday, July 3, which will decide whether they will remain in pre-trial detention.

Emiel den Hollander was discovered critically injured on April 16 around 7 p.m. on the roof of a garage beneath an apartment on the Osdorper Ban. He had reportedly been held hostage in the residence for several hours, between approximately 1:30 p.m. and the moment of his fall. His mother stated that he was being kept there while a ransom was demanded.

The arrests follow the earlier detention of a 23-year-old man from Hoorn. He was first taken into custody on May 21 on suspicion of unlawful deprivation of liberty resulting in serious injury and attempted murder or manslaughter. After den Hollander died on June 19, prosecutors formally upgraded the charges against this suspect to murder or manslaughter and unlawful deprivation of liberty resulting in death. In early June, the district court extended his pre-trial detention by 60 days. He remains in custody.

According to prosecutors, den Hollander sustained extensive injuries in the fall, including brain damage, a broken neck, broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken hip, and fractured shoulder blades. Witnesses heard the impact and immediately called emergency services. He remained in a coma until his death on June 19.

Initially, police arrested the 60-year-old resident of the apartment. The 23-year-old suspect from Hoorn was later linked not only to the incident but also to multiple burglaries, authorities said. The circumstances of how den Hollander fell remain under investigation, with prosecutors stating he may have been pushed or may have fallen while trying to escape.

The death prompted singer S10 to cancel several performances, including her tour launch in Zwolle and an appearance at the Paaspop festival, citing personal problems related to the incident. Her mother later confirmed that the victim was S10’s twin brother.

The Public Prosecution Service emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests are not ruled out.
