The death of 23-year-old Nabil Amzieb has been in the headlines for several days in the Netherlands, with the smoldering car found in Amsterdam Zuidoost on March 8, and Amzieb’s head was discovered outside a shisha lounge on Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam Zuid the next morning.

Investors' association VEB filed a lawsuit against Volkswagen last week over the diesel software scandal on behalf of Dutch investors. In the days after the scandal was revealed, Volkswagen shares lost more than 35 percent of its value. According to the VEB, Volkswagen misled its shareholders with false and misleading statements.

A spokesperson from Pon’s, the company that imports Volkswagens (VW) into the Netherlands, told NU.nl on Monday that it has stopped selling diesel cars with suspicious engines. The announcement was made in response to the emissions scam that has plagued VW in recent weeks, regarding their Euro 5 diesel engine type EA 189.

In the last six months, car theft has dropped 4.4 percent compared to the same period last year, to a total of 5,492. The Anti-Car Theft Foundation (Stichting Aanpak Voertuigcriminaliteit) brings it down to the intensification of co-operation in the fight against car thieves, the NOS reports.

The number of car thefts has gone up for the first time in ten years, according to the Foundation for Tackling Vehicle Crime (AVc). The foundations recorded 11,761 car thefts over the last year, 365 more than in 2012.
