The main airports in the Netherlands recorded a significant raise in the number of travelers flying to and from the country. Last year, 68.4 million travelers flew from, to or via Schiphol, representing a rise of 7.7% relative to 2016. Meanwhile, the airport's largest airline, KLM, welcomed a record 32.7 million passengers aboard its 2017 flights.

Inflation in the Netherlands dropped to 0.0 percent in April, compared to 0.6 percent in March. This put inflation back to the same level as in 2015, which was the lowest level since 1987, according to figures released by Statistics Netherlands.

Eindhoven airport has been given the go-ahead to increase the number of flights taking-off and landing to 43,000 per year. The increase was approved after evaluations showed that the airport kept its agreement to reduce the noise disturbance. The airport is now allowed 15,000 additional movements until 2020.
