The police unions are willing to restart collective bargaining agreement talks with Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security. But to keep the pressure on the Minister, police officers will start a series of protest actions, the unions announced on Tuesday after talking with their members, RTL Nieuws reports.

Mayor Femke Halsema of Amsterdam is making an "ultimate attempt" to convince the lower house of Dutch parliament to hire more police officers. She is discussing this matter with Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security, the Telegraaf reports.

Halsema toured Amsterdam's Red Light District during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to the newspaper. She denies that there is complete "lawlessness", as Amsterdam's ombudsman Arre Zuurmond said in previous reports. "But it is true that there are far too few enforcers and officers."

A special committee of the Ministry of Security and Justice is investigating possible mistakes made by the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) in murder investigations following a report by a whistleblower, the Telegraaf reports.

The investigation was launched in April and focuses on irregularities in determining the causes of death in stabbing victims, according to the newspaper. The committee consists of three professors. They are looking into the methods used by the NFI, the "actions and negligence" of NFI employees and whether any rules of conduct were violated.

Perpetrators of "minor offenses" do not have to be worried about fines on Monday. Police officers across the country will be protesting for a better collective bargaining agreement from today, doing so by only handing out warnings instead of fines, RTL Nieuws reports.

Previously the Minister announced that two brothers convicted of terrorism would lose their Dutch passports. This time is different, because it involves suspects against whom criminal cases are still ongoing - they have not been convicted yet.

On Wednesday NRC reported that two prosecutors lied about being in an relationship for years. And that two were appointed chief prosecutors by a prosecutor they had relationships with.

The Dutch government is looking into whether children of Dutch jihadists can be removed from camps in Syria, Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security said on television program Pauw. "The children have to leave. They should not be in a camp there", he said, according to RTL Nieuws.

The Minister is working with the National Coordinator for Counter-terrorism and Security to investigate how the children can be brought out of the camps in a safe manner. "It is an extremely difficult matter", Grapperhaus said. "I find it terribly wrong that children are in these areas."

The Dutch government will stop using Russian anti-virus software from Kaspersky Lab out of concern that the Kremlin might use it for espionage, Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security said in a letter to parliament, NU.nl reports.

Anti-virus software has in-depth access to ICT systems to combat viruses, Grapperhaus explained. Because of this extensive access "there is a risk of digital espionage and sabotage at the central government and the Dutch vital infrastructure", he wrote to the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament.

Research by RTL Nieuws revealed that this pedophile manual has been available on the dark web for over 10 years. The book is actively shared on forums for pedophiles and supplemented with new tips, experiences and advice. The police confirmed to the broadcaster that the book was used by various Dutch pedophiles.

The mayors of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague want the government to hurry up and make a decision on banning firecrackers and firework rockets, Hague mayor Pauline Krikke wrote in a letter on behalf of her colleagues.

The letter is addressed to Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security and State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven of Infrastructure and Water Management, NOS reports.

Today is the Rutte III government's 100th day in office. Yet many of the ministers in the government are still just as unknown to the Dutch public as when they took office, according to a study by Kantar Public, BNR reports.

The most anonymous members of the Rutte III government are Ingrid van Engelshoven, Minister of Education, Culture and Science, and Minister Bruno Bruins for Medical Care and Sports. Only 7 percent of respondents knew who they are. Hugo de Jonge, Minster of Public Health, Welfare and Sports, did slightly better with 12 percent of respondents knowing who he is.
