On Monday the police turned the Karelskamp prison in Almelo inside out in search of a firearm, after one of the inmates received a threat saying that he would be murdered in prison. The target was Deja A., one of three suspects in a quadruple murder in Enschede last year, De Gelderlander reports.

Several people were arrested last week after death threats were made against a police officer involved in a drug investigation. A criminal group promised “tens of thousands of euros for information about the officer,” according to a police report.

The alleged criminal group threatened to kill the officer in messages published online.

“The Police and the Public Prosecutor’s office take the threat very seriously. Security measures to protect the officer were undertaken,” police said.

A 21-year-old woman from Nijmegen who was arrested on Monday for involvement in death threats made against FvD leader Thierry Baudet during an anti-racism protest in Amsterdam, regrets what she did. In a statement to the police, she said that "underestimated the impact of her words", NU.nl reports.

The woman was released again on Tuesday evening.

On Monday the police arrested a 21-year-old woman from Nijmegen for involvement in threats made against FvD leader Thierry Baudet during an anti-racism demonstration in Amsterdam on Saturday. 

Over the weekend, videos filmed at the protest were posted online, showing a protester with a scarf over their face singing: "If you want to shoot Thierry, then say bang."

Why the mayor was threatened, and by whom, is still under investigation. The threats may be connected to the decision to ban traditional New Year's fires in the municipality, according to the broadcaster. This decision resulted in a flood of criticism on the city government, and the mayor specifically.

Groups from the Noord-Brabant criminal underworld threatened to murder a police officer from the Zeeland-West-Brabant unit. The threatened cop is active in the fight against drug crime in Noord-Brabant, a spokesperson for the police confirmed to NU.nl.

The police did not say exactly what function the threaten cop holds. The 3,500 employees of the unit were informed about the threat on Wednesday. The police are investigating.

To make it clear that the police are aware of threat, discussions were held wit the criminal gangs in the area on Wednesday. No one was arrested.

The Amsterdam police are investigating a video in which a spokesperson for the Nasr mosque in Amsterdam-Oost is threatened with death. The threat is related to the mosque's refusal to say a death prayer for suspected Dutch jihadist Sara L., who died with her daughter in a bombardment in the Syrian city of Hajin last month, AT5 reports.

A number of lecturers at the University of Amsterdam received death threats after they called on the university's board to take a stand against Jordan Peterson, a controversial Canadian cultural critic, speaking at the university, NOS reports.

Discussion platform Room for Discussion invited Peterson to speak at a University of Amsterdam campus in the center of the city on Wednesday afternoon. The Canadian is known for his unambiguous criticism of political correctness and feminism. Opponents accuse him of propagating chauvinism, among other things.

An 18-year-old suspect will appear in the court in Den Bosch on Friday for threatening Frank van der Meijden, mayor of the Noord-Brabant municipality of Laarbeek, with death late last year, NU.nl reports.

The mayor's home in Beek en Donk is under extra security. Whether this was implemented after the threat, is not yet clear. The threat was made on December 21st last year. 

In an interview with Eindhovens Dagblad, the mayor previously said that he regularly faces threats and intimidation. He is known for his strict policy in dealing with illegal practices.

The Dutch probation service no longer wants to work with convicts who are guilty of death threats, or who are themselves threatened with death. The service's employees don't feel safe at their jobs. A prosecutor from the Noord-Nederland Public Prosecution Service is in hiding due to serious threats made against her. She is investigating outlaw motorcycle club No Surrender, but it is not clear whether the threats came from the club, the Telegraaf reports.

Almost at the same time as this prosecutor, Emmen mayor Bouke Arends also went into hiding due to threats received after he closed a No Surrender club house. According to the Public Prosecutor, the mayor and prosecutor going into hiding does not necessarily mean that No Surrender is behind the threats.

An investigation was launched into a threat to kill Sinterklaas during his national arrival in Dokkum last year, the Public Prosecutor confirmed to the Telegraaf. The threat, aimed at Stefan de Walle, the actor who plays Sinterklaas, was made by the leader of left-wing extremist group De Grauwe Eeuw, according to the newspaper.

Amsterdam city councilor Diederik Boomsma (CDA) received a death threat shortly after the city council discussed squatters that have been living on the ADM site in the city for decades. He reported the death threat to the police, the Telegraaf reports.

The police refused to comment to the newspaper about the threat. Boomsma confirmed that he was threatened and reported it to the police, but would not say anything further.

The Public Prosecutor demanded 40 hours of community service against a 47-year-old woman who threatened Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Facebook. The Prosecutor also asked the court in The Hague to impose mandatory treatment for the woman's psychological problems, the Telegraaf reports.

In November last year the woman commented on a Facebook post by Rutte about politician Sylvana Simmons. "If we can't hang Sylvana, then we'll hang this bastard. The main cause", she wrote. The woman later stated that she was acting on impulse and that she regrets the comment.

A death threat directed at Woerden mayor Victor Molkenboer was spray-painted on the Hollandbaan in Woerden. The text, which also declares war on the police and mayor, was signed "regards drug dealers", according to RTV Utrecht.

"Molkenboer retirement or death", the text read. And: "You will burn."

The Dutc Aldermen's Association is calling for harsher action against people who intimidate politicians in the Netherlands following revelations that Emmen's deputy mayor Bouke Arends had to go into hiding abroad due to threats on his life. Threats against politicians are "the order of the day", Jeroen van Gool of the Association said to the Telegraaf.
