The staff of restaurant Annie's in Leiden had an exciting evening on Monday. A pregnant woman came in asking to use the bathroom, and eventually gave birth in the restaurant. Mother and baby girl are both doing well, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Dutch population will continue to grow in the coming decades to over 18.4 million people by 2060, according to the latest prognosis by Statistics Netherlands. The 18 millionth inhabitant is expected in 2031. By 2040 almost a quarter of the Dutch population will be elderly, and by 2060 just over a third will have their roots in the outside world, according to the stats office.
A woman gave birth on an Arriva Bus in Breda on Sunday evening. The baby boy was born on line 115 on Markendaalseweg, with the help of bus driver and passengers, Omroep Brabant reports.
Bus driver Frans Videler saw in his mirror that something was up with the woman. He heard a shout and saw her water break. He pulled the bus over, let traffic control know via the emergency button and called the emergency services. He was still on the line when the baby was born
