Explosion sparks fire at Terneuzen parking lot, damages nearby home

A powerful explosion at a parking lot on Schuberthof in Terneuzen on Saturday afternoon sparked a fire that spread to a nearby home, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

The blast, occurring approximately 20 meters from the house, sent debris flying, igniting the backyard. When emergency services arrived, the fire had already spread to the residence via a canopy.

Firefighters contained the blaze and prevented it from reaching a neighboring home.

Police said there is no evidence that the explosion targeted the affected house. The exact type of explosive remains under investigation.
