Summery temps with a chance of showers this weekend
After a changeable and relatively cool week, the Netherlands is in for some summery temperatures this weekend. Maximums will rise considerably, but the chance of showers persists, according to Weeronline.
Friday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Maximums will range between 21 degrees on the northwest coast and 28 degrees in the south.
Saturday will start sunny with temperatures climbing to 22 to 25 degrees Celsius by mid-morning. In the afternoon, some cirrus clouds will move across the country. Many places will hit summer values of 25 degrees Celsius. The highest temps are expected in the south, where thermometers could climb to 31 degrees locally. The beaches will also be pleasantly warm with maximums between 25 and 28 degrees.
More clouds will appear in the south during the afternoon, and there may be isolated showers by the evening, spreading to the central regions and later the north as the night continues.
Sunday will not live up to its name, and cloud cover will win out over sunshine for large parts of the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across the country in the afternoon. “The showers can be heavy, with a lot of rain in a short period and gusty winds.” Temperatures will rise to between 23 and 27 degrees. “During sunny spells, it may get a bit warmer in some areas,” Weeronline said.
After the weekend, “unsettled summer weather” is back on the agenda. There’s a chance of showers almost daily, but sunny spells are also expected in between them. Temperatures will drop back to maximums between 21 and 25 degrees, which is typical for late July.
