Streak of warm summer weather starts today
Today is the first day of a streak of warm summer weather in the Netherlands. No significant rainfall is expected, although there may be a few showers on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will steadily rise to summer values of 25 degrees or higher by the weekend, according to Weeronline.
Wednesday will be a dry mix of cumulus clouds and sunny spells. Most of the clouds will be inland. There will be a moderate westerly wind. Temperatures will climb to 20 degrees Celsius at the coast and 24 degrees Celsius in the southeast. “Wonderful weather for getting out and about,” Weeronline said.
Tonight will see increasing cloud cover, but no rain is expected. There will be a little wind, and minimums will drop to between 8 and 12 degrees.
Thursday will start with a truly sunny morning, but some cloud cover will appear by early afternoon, spreading from west to east. “A few local rain showers may fall from the thicker cloud cover, but it won’t be significant.” Maximums will climb to 20 degrees on the coast, 23 degrees inland, and even up to 25 or 26 degrees in the southeast. The wind will be moderate to strong and from the southwest.
Friday will be a warm summer day with considerable cloud cover, but also sunny spells. “A local shower is possible, although it will remain dry in the vast majority of places,” Weeronline said. Temperatures will reach 23 degrees in the coastal areas and up to 27 degrees inland, with a light to moderate westerly wind.
“The weekend will be a thoroughly summary affair,” according to the weather service. No rain is expected and there will be long sunny spells. Temperatures will rise further, with many places reaching summery highs of 25 degrees. Only the coastal areas and the Wadden Islands will fall just shy of summer values, with maximums between 22 and 24 degrees. The highest temperatures this weekend will be in Noord-Brabant and Limburg, where maximums could climb to 29 degrees in some places.
“Early next week, temperatures look set to rise even higher, and the dry, sunny summer weather will most likely continue.”
