Heat record broken for warmest October 25 ever measured

Friday was officially the warmest October 25 ever measured in the Netherlands. The temperature at the national weather station in De Bilt rose to 18.4 degrees, which broke the record from 1953, which was 18.3 degrees. It is the seventh time this year that a weather record was broken on a certain date.

The record across all the weather measuring stations was also broken. That record was 19.7 degrees and was measured in Maastricht in 1949 and in Ell in 2013. It was 20.2 degrees in Westdorpe on Friday, and 20 degrees was measured in Eindhoven.

Saturday will also have warm weather. There are periods of sun, and it will be 18 degrees in the northern part of the country and could rise to 21 degrees locally in Brabant and Limburg. This is very mild weather for this time of year. The usual temperature is around 13 or 14 degrees at the end of October.

Despite the high temperatures, no date record will be broken on Saturday. It was 22.1 degrees in De Bilt and 23.3 degrees in Arcen on October 26 2006.

The first high-temperature date record of this year was broken on January 23. This then also happened on February 15, March 3, and 14, April 6, and September 1.

2023 saw seven heat records and one cold record being broken. In 2022, eight heat records and one cold record were broken. In 2020, 14 heat records were broken.
