Fatal shooting at B&B belonging to frontman of farmers' protest group
One person died in a shooting at a bed and breakfast on Lamperen in Wanroij on Monday. Another person was taken to the hospital with injuries. The bed and breakfast is owned by Mark van den Oever of the farmers’ protest group Farmers Defence Force, Omroep Brabant reported.
The police are not sharing any details about what happened, only saying that one person was killed, one injured, and they are investigating.
Omroep Brabant reported that a man was killed and a woman was taken to the hospital under police escort. Forensic investigators were at the scene.
According to the broadcaster, Van den Oever doesn’t live at the B&B, only rents out the rooms, mainly to foreign workers. Van den Oever told a local broadcaster that the shooting was a personal drama between a woman who rented a room from him and her seriously ill boyfriend.
This is the second fatal incident in the Noord-Brabant village in less than a month. A 47-year-old man allegedly killed his 46-year-old ex in her home on Molenstraat on April 20. The police arrested the man in Duiven, Gelderland. He is still in custody.
