Suspect in fatal Muiden gas station shooting still at large; €10,000 reward offered
The Dutch authorities have offered a €10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Solano Zichterman, wanted for a fatal shooting at an A1 gas station near Muiden in March. Investigators asked anyone with information about the 23-year-old man’s whereabouts to come forward. The man is considered armed and dangerous, the police said.
The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. The police received reports of shots being fired at the Honswijck gas station on the A1 highway near Muiden, heading towards Amersfoort. Responding officers found a seriously injured man in a car in the gas station’s parking lot.
First responders resuscitated the victim, a 37-year-old man from Huizen, and rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“Over the past few weeks, every effort has been made to find out who is responsible for the shooting and exactly what happened,” the police said. Zichterman emerged during the investigation. “We suspect that he was involved in the shooting incident.”
The police released the suspect’s photo, without his name, on April 20, calling for information about his current whereabouts in the hopes that he would turn himself in. That did not happen, and the tips that came in did not lead to his current location. “This dangerous man has not yet been apprehended,” the police said.
In the investigation program Opsporing Verzocht on Monday, the police pointed out that Zichterman may have changed his appearance and may have a different hairstyle or facial hair than the pictures shown. “Therefore, pay particular attention to features that are not easily altered, such as his round eyebrows and the shape of his mouth. Also, take a close look at his stature – Zichterman is 1.75 meters tall – and the clothing in which he was captured by cameras.”
The police also urged anyone who encounters Zichterman not to approach him themselves, but to contact the police.
