Man arrested for supplying weapons used in Weiteveen couple's slaying

The police arrested a 35-year-old man from Emmen on suspicion of supplying the weapons used to kill 44-year-old Ineke Mussche and her husband, 38-year-old Przemyslaw "Sam" Czerniawski, in Weiteveen in January. The police said they linked the man to illegal weapons found at the crime scene and suspected him of illegal firearm trade.

Mussche and Czerniawski were gunned down by 50-year-old Richard K. at their home in Weiteveen on January 16. The three were involved in a year-long dispute over the condition of the home the couple bought from K. The man posted a tearful confession on social media after the double shooting and has told the court that he wasn’t himself at the time of the shootings. Mussche and Czerniawski’s 12-year-old son likely witnessed his father’s murder.

K. is a licensed firearm owner but used illegal weapons in the killings, the authorities said. Investigation into the illegal weapons found at the crime scene led the police to the 35-year-old man from Emmen. He was arrested on Monday morning. “The man is suspected of having supplied the weapons found at the crime scene and used there,” the police said. “The investigation must show what his exact involvement was in relation to the weapons.”

The police searched the man’s home. He is in custody for interrogation. “The man is not suspected of involvement in the violent incident or taking preparatory actions regarding the violent incident,” the police stressed. The investigation into the origin of the weapons is still ongoing, and more arrests may follow.
