More train traffic disruptions as snowy weather intensifies
Snowfall across the Netherlands is increasingly causing train traffic problems. NS has seven disruptions listed on its site, all with delays up to an hour.
No train traffic is possible from and to Zaandam due to "multiple disruptions". This morning NS said that they hope to sort these problems out by 10:00 a.m. "It is not yet known how long this will last", the rail company now says. Buses are transporting passengers between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Zaandam.
Train traffic between Dieren and Zutphen is also still at a standstill, because of maintenance work taking longer than expected. Buses are transporting passengers on this route.
Fewer trains are running between Amersfoort and Barneveld due to the weather conditions. This is expected to cause delays until at least 8:00 p.m.
No Intercity trains are running between Amersfoort and Zwolle due to a faulty overhead line. NS can't say when this problem will be fixed.
A broken train is still causing problems between Dronten and Kampen Zuid, resulting on fewer trains on that route. NS hopes to have this sorted out by 3:30 p.m.
No intercity trains are running between Utrecht Centraal and Den Haag Centraal due to a points failure. NS hopes to have this failure resolved by 9:30 p.m.
Limited train traffic is possible between Hoogeveen and Assen, due to a vehicle on the track.
NS is already running fewer trains throughout the country due to the weather conditions. In most places trains are running every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 or 10 minutes. "Travelers are urgently advised to take this into account and adjust your trip accordingly."
Meteorological institute KMNI issued a code red weather warning for most of the Netherlands. Rijkswaterstaat warns people to stay off the roads - don't go anywhere unless strictly necessary. Dozens of flights were canceled or delayed at the Dutch airports.
