Internet, television and calling will be more expensive for many Dutch from July. Nearly all Dutch providers of these services are implementing price increases, according to comparison site Pricewise.

Ziggo is implementing an average price increase of 1.65 euros per month. According to Ziggo, the price increase is necessary for further investments in the network, in order to process the considerably increased data consumption.

On Wednesday morning the police raided a shop in Enschede after investigation revealed that the store was selling TV receivers with software installed that gives users access to complete Ziggo television packages at a significantly lower price. This practice is generally called Card-sharing and is punishable according to the Dutch Penal code and the Dutch Copyright Act, the police said in a statement.

Dutch telecom providers Ziggo and XS4ALL are blocking access to torrent site The Pirate Bay after the court in The Hague ordered them to do so. Ziggo blocked the site on Wednesday, and XS4ALL plan to do so on Thursday, RTL Nieuws reports.

Film distributor Dutch Filmworks (DFW) plans to soon start fining Dutch pirates, owner Willem Pruijssers said to RTL Z. Starting in October, the distributor plans to track Dutch illegally downloading or streaming its products. Those caught doing so will be sent a "settlement letter" with a fine amount, which they can either pay or fight in court, according to the broadcaster.
