Jan Roos is taking leave of political party Voor Nederland (VNL), he announced on Thursday. Instead he will be launching his own online opinion page, NU.nl reports.

Roos participated in the parliamentary elections in March, but VNL did not win any parliamentary seats. "We were not able to achieve what we wanted to achieve", he said. "It's not what I hoped for, but I am not ready to give up on my opinion." He will give this opinion on his own site in future.

The future of the VNL without Roos is unclear.

While it does not seem that the first televised election debate on RTL on Sunday had much affect on the polls, Maurice de Hond's latest poll does show left-leaning parties CDA and PvdA each gaining slightly more support and going up one seat. Right-wing PVV's support continues to dwindle slowly. Elderly party 50Plus took quite a blow this past week, losing almost half of its support.

Voters will have quite a selection to choose from in the parliamentary elections next month when it comes to picking a political party based on the financial and economic choices, according to calculations by Dutch central planning office CPB. A major difference between this and last election is that the parties are focused on spending money now that the economy is recovering, instead of the 2012 election's focus on cutbacks in the aftermath of the financial crisis, NU.nl reports.

Almost half of Dutch political parties' campaigns for the parliamentary elections contain proposals that are diametrically opposed to the current constitution or rule of law, according to a study by a committee of professors. There were proposals that violate fundamental human rights, access to an independent court and legal security, among other things, ANP reports.

A proposal by VNL to scrap the ban on group defamation, hate speech and discrimination from the Penal Code was rejected by a majority in Dutch parliament on Thursday. A large majority of the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, found the proposal not well thought out as it opens the door to discrimination directed at vulnerable groups such as Jews, Muslims, women, LGBT and disabled people, NU.nl reports.

A majority in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, voted against a proposal to ban foreign financing for Dutch political parties. The proposal was rejected by right-wing parties VVD, PVV and VNL and Christian parties CDA, ChristenUnie and SGP, NU.nl reports.

The party management said goodbye to him on Wednesday because he lacks "outspoken commitment to politics", according to the party's press release. Party members told the Limburger that Moszkowicz was unreliable, took the wrong standpoints in interviews and didn't read the files the VNL gave him.
