The D66 wants to introduce a temporary quota for women in top positions at listed companies. According to parliamentarian Vera Bergkamp, the current rules for getting more women in top jobs are insufficient and a quota is needed for equal opportunities on the labor market, NOS reports.

Six years ago the largest companies in the Netherlands got the goal of having 30 percent women in leadership positions by 1 January 2020. The majority of the companies are not yet close to this goal.

Coalition party D66 and the Dutch association of pediatricians AJN are pleading for the government to conduct a thorough investigation into treatments that claim to "cure" young people from being gay. If these therapies are indeed as harmful as expected, they must be banned, D66 parliamentarian Vera Bergkamp said to EenVandaag.

"Young people must be able to be completely themselves. These therapies are at odds with this", Bergkamp said. She believes that these "treatments" can push young people struggling with their sexual orientation and faith over the edge.

A group of regulated cannabis cultivation activists gathered in Amsterdam in early March to debate what regulated cultivation would look like in public. The general feeling seems to be one of cautious optimism, since the Dutch parliament approved a D66 initiated motion to regulate cannabis cultivation with a close majority. This would mean that cannabis will no longer need to be 'smuggled in through the back door' anymore, and instead can be openly produced under government supervision, enabling quality control.

Now it has to pass through the Eerste Kamer, the Dutch Senate, though it is uncertain whether the bill will make it.

The VVD and D66 are calling for unmarried fathers to have the same rights as other parents in a newly submitted legislative proposal. According to the parties, many parents do not know about the extra paperwork unmarried fathers have to complete if they want custody of their child, NU.nl reports.

Currently biological mothers and married fathers automatically get custody, while unmarried fathers have to fill out extra paperwork. If they fail to do so they do nothave custody of their child. This could create problems, for example, if the mother dies or if they separate.
