The police evacuated all passengers from a train stopped near Oldenzaal station over a "suspicious situation" on Thursday afternoon. The area around the station is closed down. Police officers, sniffer dogs, and the Koninklijke Marechaussee are at the scene to investigate exactly what is going on, the Oldenzaal police said on Twitter.
The as-Soennah mosque in The Hague received a letter in which an anonymous writer seems to threaten with an attack with a truck on a mosque or school. "Don't forget that you're vulnerable too in Europe", the letter begins. The envelope also included a toy truck, RTL Nieuws reports.
"With every cowardly attack on our citizens and children, a counter-attack can follow on your innocent visitors of mosques or whatever. A truck that hits a mosque or school! Don't forget that!", the letter states. "So beware."
A suspicious package delivered to the Heerlen town hall on December 21st contained explosive TNT, lawyer Sjanneke de Crom confirmed on behalf of the suspect she represents. A suspicious package left at the Heerlen city hall last week Wednesday contained a threatening letter addressed to th city's mayor Ralf Krewinkel, according to lawyer Sjanneke de Crom, ANP reports.
De Crom represents the person suspected of leaving the package. He was arrested on Thursday and released again on Tuesday. He remains a suspect.
