Finnish media company Sanoma sold Dutch television broadcasters SBS to John de Mol's investment fund Talpa for 237 million euros, Sanoma announced on Monday. This mean's Talpa is now the sole owner of SBS6, Veronica, Net5 and SBS9, AD reports.

Talpa and Sanoma jointly bought SBS for over 1 billion euros in 2011. Talpa then acquired the minority share of 33 percent and Sanoma the rest.

Broadcaster SBS firmly denies reports that it is planning to layoff a significant number of its staff. On Thursday morning newspaper AD reported that a quarter of the SBS staff will be laid off. A spokesperson for the broadcaster now told NU.nl that this is absolutely not true.

Dutch Television mogul John De Mol bought up a 5.1-percent stake in Amsterdam-based GPS device manufacturer TomTom. De Mol purchased about 11.7 million shares, local media reported on Wednesday citing a statement from the financial market regulator AFM.
