Two police officers were injured while arresting a man for violating a restraining order against him on Seringenstraat in Leiden during the early hours of Monday morning. The 29-year-old man from Harlingen resisted arrest so violently that the officers felt forced to use pepper spray on him and fire a warning shot, the police said in a statement.
A 16-year-old girl shot dead at her school in Rotterdam on Tuesday reported to the police that the man suspected of killing her was threatening her. Humeyra Oz went to the police with a photo 31-year-old Bekir E. sent her, showing the man posing with two firearms, sources around the investigation told the Telegraaf.
The Netherlands is too slow in acting against domestic violence, according to mayor Pauline Krikke of The Hague. "Nationwide there are 50 deaths per year due to domestic violence. The neighbors of an 80-year-old man from Leersum may claim a 300 thousand euro fine from him in a long running conflict between the neighbor, the court of Midden-Nederland ruled on Wednesday, the Telegraaf reports.
According to the court, the neighbors have a legitimate claim on the house of the elderly man, with whom they've been living in discord for 15 years. The man trespassed on the neighbor's property twice this year.

A 45 year old man from Duiven was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 12 of which conditionally suspended, on Friday for having a sexual relationship wit ha 12 year old girl for two years. He is also not allowed to have contact with the girl and has to continue his psychiatric treatmen
The court in Utrecht sentenced Dirk M., the man who attempted to extort the De Mol family for more than a year, to 441 days in prison, of which 300 days are suspended. He will therefore not have to spend any more time in prison as the 141 days left in his sentence is equal to the time he spent in custody.
The man suspected of extorting television producer John de Mol and his sister, presenter Linda de Mol, has been released from jail, reports NOS. Dirk Klaas M., a 70-year old man from Zeist, suffers from a severe form of dementia, and doctors believe his health would further deteriorate if he stayed in his cell any longer.
