Students who need to take out a loan to pay for their studies are more often extremely tired, emotionally exhausted and concerned about having a burnout. They are also more likely to say no to social activities because of the costs, according to a survey by Motivaction commissioned by student organization ISO, NOS and BN De Stem report.

According to ISO, the survey shows that the loan system has a major impact on students. "Borrowing does not only touch students in the wallet, but also emotionally. That became a fact with this study", chairman Tom van den Brink said to NOS.

A mistake was made in a survey intended to gauge what the Dutch population thinks about daylight savings time. In one question about implementing permanent summer time the survey states that the sun will set at around 8:00 p.m. at the end of June, while in fact the sun will set at around 10:00 p.m., NOS reports.

It's Black Friday today. And the American tradition of offering massive sales and discounts on the Friday after Thanksgiving seems to now also be firmly rooted in the Netherlands. According to research agency Motivaction, more and more Dutch shops, businesses and consumers are participating in the discount circus, NOS reports.

In Rotterdam, it's not only shops offering discounts. The municipality teamed up with retailers, hotels and museums to make an entire weekend of it, according to the broadcaster.

Eight out of ten largest insurers in the Netherlands invested in companies supplying arms and military equipment to dictatorships and plutocracies like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Nigeria, reports Eerlijke Verzekeringswijzer. The insurers' investment in 15 weapon suppliers totaled 6.8 billion euros between 2010 and 2014, the insurance comparison site announced on Thursday.
