Over 20 people were killed and more than 100 injured when a gunman opened fire on visitors of the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas on Monday morning, Dutch time. The Las Vegas police currently believe that the gunman acted alone, and while the motives of the perpetrator is unknown, they aren't calling it a terrorist attack as yet. A number of Dutch are currently on holiday in Las Vegas and witnessed the aftermath of the attack. "We ran for our lives", one of them, Koen Nederhof, said to RTL Nieuws.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on Dutch people in Bali to register themselves with the Dutch embassy due to an imminent volcanic eruption on the island. People planning to go to the Indonesian island should also make sure they're registered with the embassy. Dutch on the island can register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' , RTL Nieuws reports.

A group of 38 Dutch tourists were attacked by armed robbers in the South African city of Johannesburg on Sunday night. They were threatened and robbed on their tour bus shortly after arriving in the country, the Telegraaf reports.

The robbery happened on the way to their first hotel. The bus was forced off the road by men dressed as police officers. The bus driver was forced to drive to an isolated place, where the men piled into the bus and threatened and robbed the Dutch passengers, according to the newspaper.

Travel organization TUI currently has 2,721 Dutch tourists on the Greek islands of Kos and Kras. The organization is not planning an immediate evacuation of Dutch people on Kos, which was early on Friday morning.

A massive earthquake with a force of 6.7 on the Richter scale hit the southwestern coast of Turkey around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, local time. The epicenter of the quake was 10 kilometers form the coast of tourist resort Bodrum. Nearby Greek island Kos was also hit hard. Many Dutch tourists are on summer holiday at these locations, NU.nl reports.

A bus driver who caused an was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of four Dutch tourists. He was given a suspended prison sentence of three years and 10 months by the court in Portimao on Tuesday, the Volkskrant reports.

A 22-year-old Dutch snowboarder died in the French Alps after being buried under an avalanche on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. Two others, age 21 and 25 years, are still missing. Their families were informed, AD reports.

Rescue workers resumed the search for the missing snowboarders at 7:30 a.m.

French media report that the three were snowboarding in the region of Le Seuil, about 60 kilometers east of Grenoble. This is a particularly dangerous area known for avalanches. It is unclear what they were doing outside the safe zones.

At least one Dutch person was killed in an avalanche at a ski resort in the French Alps, the French police are saying, according to NOS. Two other Dutch are missing.

According to Reuters, it is unclear whether there are any more victims.

The avalanche happened in the Savoy region near the Italian border, according to NU.nl. On Tuesday there was another avalanche in the same area that buried dozens of people under the snow. All of them were rescued.

A massive fire raged in a five-star hotel in Marrakech, Morocco during the early hours of Sunday morning. All guests, including about 10 Dutch, managed to escape safely. No one was injured, NOS reports.

The hour started in the restaurant of the hotel Jardins De La Koutoubia around 1:00 a.m.

A sandstorm on the Cape Verde island of Boa Vista on Christmas Day has 80 Dutch tourists still stranded at their holiday destination. "It's never been so bad. Normally a sandstorm does not stay long in the same place", Petra Kok, spokesperson for travel agency TUI, said to newspaper AD. She emphasized that, while stranded, the tourists are safe. "People can simply stay in their hotel and the situation outside is not dangerous."

About 60 Dtuch tourists who were s New Zealand after an earthquake this weekend, are now able to continue their journey. Travel agency Travel Essence arranged a small airplane to pick them up from the coastal town, NU.nl reports.

About 60 Dutch tourists are stuck in the New Zealand coastal town of Kaikoura after an earthquake this weekend completely isolated the town from the rest of the island. The town is only acessible by one road and landslides completely blocked it, a spokesperson for travel agency Travel Essence said to BNR.

A 20-year-old Dutch woman and a 24-year-old German were killed in a traffic accident in Australia. Two other Dutch women survived the crash, but were injured, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to newspaper AD on Sunday.

The accident happened near Pardoo, in western Australia, on Saturday. The car went off the road and rolled. The four passengers were on holiday together in Australia. 

The other two Dutch women in the car, age 20 and 21 years old, were injured. According to the West Australian, they are in critical, but stable condition.

Terrorist organization Al-Shabaab directed a threat for "end February, early March" against national and international airports and flights in the country. Empty charter planes will be flying to the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheik on Sunday and Tuesday to pick up the Dutch tourists currently holidaying there. KLM has decided that people on the airline's flight to Amsterdam from Cairo will only be allowed hand luggage and that no suitcases will be loaded into the airplane's hold at the airport. Travel agencies TUI Nederland and Neckermann Travel also opted for this measure.
