Dutch tourists safe after storm collapses resort roof, injures 19, kills one in Portugal

Dutch tourists were among those in the Portuguese resort town of Albufeira when a severe storm caused at least 19 injuries and one death, local authorities and media reported.

Two Dutch travelers staying at Eden Villas & Apartments through TUI were unharmed, a TUI spokeswoman said. She confirmed the company is in contact with them and added that the guests “want to continue their stay there.” TUI can relocate them to another accommodation if necessary.

Sunweb reported 250 Dutch clients were in the area during the storm. A company spokeswoman said it has not yet received information about their condition.

D-Reizen said around 50 Dutch tourists were in and around Albufeira. None were affected or injured, a spokesperson confirmed.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received no reports of Dutch citizens in distress in Albufeira.
