Adult website Motherless back online after Dutch prosecutors flag sexual abuse content

The controversial porn site Motherless has returned online after it was previously taken offline earlier in the month by the Public Prosecution Service (OM), NOS has reported.

In early May 2026, the OM took the website offline after reports from NOS and Nieuwsuur and a global investigation by CNN. The reporting found that the site contained tens of thousands of videos in which women were secretly recorded or abused while asleep or under the influence of drugs, a practice referred to as “sleep porn.”

While the parent company is registered in Costa Rica and the domain in the Czech Republic, the servers were found to be physically located in Steenbergen, Noord-Brabant, at hosting provider Nforce. This physical presence in the Netherlands enabled Dutch authorities to take action.

Motherless said in a statement that it has restored access to the site after strengthening its moderation systems. The platform says it has introduced extra reporting tools designed to identify illegal material and abuse-related images faster, and to ensure they are permanently removed.

CNN journalists observed that following the site’s return, some English-language search terms linked to sexual abuse had been restricted, while comparable terms in other languages were in some cases still accessible.

The OM is continuing its criminal investigation into the website and the images that were shared on it. It says it will respond formally at a later stage to the platform’s return online.

Regulators, including the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and the support organisation Offlimits, have expressed serious concern. They are urging stronger, coordinated action at the European level to deal with platforms of this kind more effectively and permanently.
