Two Dutch brothers accused of a vicious beating on a waiter in the Czech Republic were convicted in a Prague courtroom on Tuesday. The men were found guilty of assault and disturbing the peace, with Armin N. getting six years in prison and brother Arash getting five.

The prosecutor was pressing a case of attempted murder, demanding up to 18 years behind bars. The prosecution planned to appeal, their office said after the verdict was revealed.

Consumers' association Consumentenbond filed a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority against Google. According to the union, Google 'tricks' Android users into giving permission for their smartphones' location to be used, which is against the law, ANP reports.

Research by Consumentenbond showed that 54% of Dutch Android users have the function 'web&app' enabled. This is used to keep track of location history. The majority of these users did not know that this option was activated, the Dutch association said.

Two Dutch who assaulted a waiter in Prague in April, may face longer prison sentences. The Public Prosecutor in the Czech Republic is charging them with attempted murder, which means they can face up to 18 years in prison, NOS reports.

The Public Prosecutor changed the charges to attempted murder after medical research gave a clearer picture of the severity of the victim's injuries, concluding that they were life-threatening. The two Dutch brothers were initially charged with inflicting serious bodily harm.

The group of Dutch men were arrested at the Prague airport on Monday for assaulting a waiter over the weekend. They attacked the waiter after he told them that they couldn't drink alcohol they brought themselves on a terrace. The waiter was hospitalized.

Seven Dutch men were arrested in Prague for assaulting a waiter in the center of the city. They attacked the waiter on Saturday after the waiter told them they couldn't drink alcohol they brought themselves on a terrace, RTL Nieuws reports.

Czech newspapers report that the assaulted waiter is in intensive care in hospital. The Dutch men are between the ages of 24 and 32 years old and were arrested at the airport.

An elderly Dutch couple were injured in a fire at a hotel in the Czech capital of Prague on Saturday night. The victims are an 82-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. Marca called it "historically ridiculous", ESPN spoke of an "implosion of a superpower". All that The Latest News had to say was "poor Oranje".
