Zoetermeer to add two high-rise towers in city center, creating 235 new homes
The Dutch city of Zoetermeer will add two new residential towers in its central area, one 70 meters tall on the Markt and another 55 meters tall on a parking lot along the Frankrijklaan. Together, the towers are set to bring a combined total of 235 homes to the city, the developer said.
The city began seeking a developer in autumn 2025. This week, the municipality announced that it has selected Blauwhoed to design and build the projects.
“We have very much looked at the existing construction,” development manager Bente Bast told Omroep West. “Although they are two towers, it must also be experienced at street level within the human measure. We have wanted to connect to the city.”
The taller tower on the Markt will feature apartments for one- and two-person households and seniors. It will also include facilities open to all Zoetermeer residents.
“For example a mix of hospitality, working, sports, perhaps culture,” Bast said. Director Pascal Schreur added: “It is focused on the Zoetermeer resident, not only the inhabitants.”
The 55-meter tower on the Frankrijklaan is aimed at young people and starters. Both buildings will include shared meeting spaces and green roof gardens. Resident parking will be indoors and accessible via car lifts.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2028. In the period leading up to that, the municipality will prepare the sites and inform nearby residents.
