Video: Person injured after explosions spark house fire in Schiedam

A person was injured after explosions triggered a house fire in Schiedam on Friday evening, with neighbors reporting hearing multiple explosions just before the fire.

The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. at a home on Van Marumstraat in the Schiedam-Oost area. Several people were inside the residence at the time, police said Saturday. One person suffered burn injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Police said they are investigating the incident but cannot yet determine the cause. No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson confirmed reports by regional broadcaster Rijnmond that residents heard multiple explosions prior to the fire.
